About The Conductors
Tama Rowan conducts the Junior Academy Singers. Tama holds Bachelor and Master degrees
in Music Education from the University of Oregon. She has taught music in the Eugene/Springfield area
for over 25 years. Currently she is the music specialist at Mt. Vernon Elementary School in
Springfield. Tama is also director with Rose Children’s Theater. This is her ninth season with the Oregon Children’s Choir.

Suzanne Light, Jr. Girlchoir conductor, earned a Bachelor's degree and teaching certificate in music education at the University of Oregon. She is an elementary music teacher at Irving Elementary. Mrs. Light became involved with the Oregon Children's Choir during our 1991-1992 season.

About the Junior Academy Singers


The Junior Academy Singers is for boys and girls in 2nd - 5th grades. The Junior Academy Singers goes on a 1-day performance tour each spring. Under the direction of Tama Rowan and Suzanne Light they perform at all 3 of our main choir concerts during the year. They meet once a week on Monday afternoons and on occasional Saturdays.


Time Commitment and Attendance


Parents of Junior Academy Singers choristers must attend a mandatory parent meeting:

Rehearsals

 

Rehearsals for the 2011-2012 Season begin Monday, September 12, 2011. Choristers must attend all major choir events:

Each year we have many young singers possess the talent, energy, drive and commitment that it takes to be a part of the Oregon Children's Choir, but they lack the financial means to afford it. You can help! For as little as $37.50 per month, you can give specifically to provide scholarship funds to help children experience this once in a lifetime opportunity. Choir fans, alumni, parents, grandparents and business are invited to become regular givers to fund scholarships that go directly to help off set tuition cost.
