How to Give Money to Oregon Children’s Choir and Save a Bundle

How much does it cost to give to the Oregon Children’s choir? Let’s say you donate $500 to the Oregon Children’s Choir (you can give anything less of course and we will be just as grateful!) and you then make a $500 “matching donation” to Oregon Cultural Trust. When you file your state taxes, simply list your Oregon Cultural Trust donation and receive a 100% tax credit (that’s $500 right off what you owe).

But that’s not the end of the story. You also get to deduct your OCC donation as a charitable contribution, which can save you from $295 to $395 more. And that can bring your final cost of giving $1000 down to a mere $105 to $205, depending on your tax bracket (see chart below). Now that is a jolly Christmas!

Oregon Cultural Trust Example Giving Chart

Wow!

Notice that a couple in the 35% tax bracket can give $2000 per year for just $210.00!

You don't have to give $500. You can give $50 or $100 or $300... whatever you want do the same thing. So don't worry about how much you can give. Just enjoy giving what you can and know that whatever you give will be worth a lot more than it cost you to give.

Donations must be made by Dec. 31st. You and your spouse can each give up to $500. The chart above assumes each person gives the full amount allowed but any donation less than $500 per person is just fine.

It’s as simple as 1, 2, 3...4

1) Donate to the Oregon Children’s Choir.

2) Match that gift by donating an equal amount to the Oregon Cultural Trust.

3) 100% of your matching gift will be returned as a tax credit when you file your taxes as a Tax Credit.

4) List your OCC donation as a deduction on your taxes for even more savings!
